We are delighted to have supplied Fowler McKenzie on the development of a new heliport at Aberdeen Dyce Airport for Belgian operator NHV.
Designed by architects Halliday Fraser Munro and built by main contractor MTM Construction, the heliport complex comprises a 2,400m² hangar and offices, along with a passenger terminal with check-in area, x-ray, safety equipment storage, security and safety briefing rooms; all the facilities required to process offshore passengers. The ground floor houses a general waiting area while the upper floor has a dedicated passenger lounge.
Construction work commenced in September 2015 and was completed in September 2016. By December 2015 the hangar was almost fully clad however work had not yet started on the passenger terminal. Work on the passenger terminal then progressed rapidly and by May 2015 the terminal walls were almost complete, with the base becoming operational in January 2016. The terminal was ultimately completed in September 2016.
This is one of those projects where Regis were lucky enough to be supplying the Kingspan composite panel and polycarbonate roof-light for the roof. As well as the roofing panels we managed to secure the order for the wall panels too and all the fasteners and butyl products. We have worked closely with Fowler McKenzie for a number of years now and this relationship allows us to understand the needs of the customer and fulfil everything they expect from one of their key suppliers.
The £14 million facility investment was officially opened by Simon Gray (CEO EEEGR) and Deirdre Michie (CEO Oil & Gas UK).
CEO of NHV Eric Van Hal said: “Our new facilities in Aberdeen are very important for NHV to enable the company to serve existing and future customers in one of the most strategic helicopter hubs of the industry. It will also allow us to strengthen our position in the UK market”.
