We are delighted to be supplying contractor WG Walker on the extensive refurbishment and extension of Crookfur Primary School and Nursery in Newton Mearns. Approximately £8 million is being invested into the school as part of the Scottish Government’s ‘Schools for the Future’ programme.
Regis have worked closely with W G Walker for a number of years supplying a range of projects throughout Scotland including flat roofing and metal profile roofing cladding. Our services that W G Walker utilise is our access to windload calculations for flat roof build up’s including fastener specification to achieve desired results. Offering advice on the right product within budget and delivered to site on time.
On this project we have been supplying the Tube Washers and special flat roof fixings with various deliveries to site to fit with the programme. Craig Mair contracts manager at WG Walker says ‘working closely with key suppliers, such as Regis, allows flexibility and peace of mind that we will get deliveries of appropriate materials exactly when required, allowing us in turn to offer our clients great package’.
The funding boost will see pupils and the school community benefit from facilities such as a multi-use games area, a new entrance at the front of Crookfur which includes an improved assembly/gym and dining space, a science/technology room, management and administration space, touchdown learning pods, and new windows and roof. All classrooms and other spaces will also be refurbished complete with wi-fi provision. The school will have a planning capacity of 444 pupil places and 90 nursery places once the work is completed.
East Renfrewshire Director of Education, Mhairi Shaw said: “The standard of education at Crookfur is of a high quality and it will be fitting for the children to have a building that matches the excellent work undertaken by them, with the support of their teachers and parents. This is another improvement in the educational estate in East Renfrewshire with our other major new projects including a new family centre at Busby/Clarkston, a new Barrhead High School, and a new Faith Schools’ Joint Campus.”
The work will be done in phases and is expected to be completed for the August 2017 term.
