Regis are fortunate to have been involved in many projects within the education sector, from schools to universities throughout the UK.
In this blog, we take a look back at one of those projects we supplied for, Brimmond Primary School in Aberdeen which was completed in October 2015.
The main contractor for the project was Ogilvie Construction and the £11.75 million for the development was funded by Aberdeen City Council. JM Architects were chosen to design the school which began construction in April 2014. The new school is built on the former site of Newhill School in Bucksburn and it was developed to accommodate the growing school-age population in the local area.
What we supplied
Regis were delighted to supply cladding contractor External Systems with a variety of materials including fixings, fillers and butyl mastics. As with every contract we are involved in we handed over complete O&M manuals for External to pass to their client to ensure the building life can be extended with the good practices included in our O&M manuals.
We have worked with this customer on a number of prestigious projects in years gone by and Kevin Rielly of External Systems says, “with the experience at Regis we can rely on materials being delivered to site on time with the right fixings and accessories to complete our projects.”
The new facility covers 4501 square meters and the school can cater for 420 primary pupils and 80 nursery places. In addition to the classrooms and administrative space, the school provides accommodation for visual support services. There are also extensive outdoor facilities including courts for basketball and netball.
The new facility is also serving the wider community. Jenny Laing, leader of Aberdeen City Council has said that the council has “worked very closely with the local communities to make sure the new school meets the needs of the area and provides first-class education for the children.”
